Digitization and Automation: Application of AI, Machine Learning, Remote Sensing, IoT, Big Data, Robotics – Unleashing value in Agriculture

Agriculture is a sector with a multitude of independently performed but overall inter-dependent activities. Application of data intensive advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data and Internet of Things, are creating value for all the segments of the sector and thus contributing to an increase in the overall efficiency. Worldwide, the farming process has seen inclusion of Precision and Smart Farming practices using Satellite and Remote Sensing Analytics, Moisture and Nutrient Sensors for Soil, Robotics and Advanced Machineries.

With the advent of these advanced technologies in Indian Agriculture and a flourishing ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship, the time is ripe to digitize the sector and increase the technological footprint in the entire gamut of farming activities.
The opening session highlights how advanced technologies have reshaped agriculture globally and their relevance and significant in the Indian scenario.
Future of Investment in AgTech: Are we investing fast enough and smart enough to create impact at scale?

AgTech ventures worldwide attracted multi-billion-dollar investments in 2018-19 and added tremendous value to the industry. India too saw its fair share of investments in the form of grants, equity investments, debt financing, and angel investments in ventures deploying technological innovations.

Considering the magnitude of impact that the sector has on the country’s economy, some of the questions that the session will try to answer with a panel of global investment experts are - whether the segment has attracted enough investments? Who are the major players that are actively investing in AgTech start-ups? Which sub-sector has the highest returns and is the most attractive?
Fostering an ecosystem for Innovation: Accelerating time to Market

Technological Innovations are at the vanguard of the transformative revolution in Agriculture. The need of the hour is rapid commercialization of these technologies and aiding the ventures with resources: strategic and technical to ease their access to market and magnify their ability to scale up.

Establishing Incubators and Accelerators across the country in partnerships between the Government and Industry is a crucial step towards attaining this goal. Focussed centres of Agri-Entrepreneurship are needed to handhold the innovators and help them navigate the crucial life stages faced by a venture.

The session will hear International and National Specialists deliberate on the creation of an Agri-Specific Ecosystem of Innovation and draw insights from countries leading in AgTech innovation on replicating their success in India.

Technologies Fast-Tracking Transformation in Agriculture

With emphasis on rapidly innovating the existing agricultural value chain, some key technologies have proven their potential and resulted in tremendous value creation for the sector. Emphasising the leading examples from across the sector, and around the world, the session will explore their capacity to transform Indian Agriculture.

A panel of global experts will discuss the future trajectories of Agri technologies and how they will have a wider impact across the sector catalysing the uptake of innovation and bringing a transformative change.

Providing Cost Effective Solutions and Services to Farmers: Partnerships between Innovators, Industry, Academia, & Government

The benefits of technologies reach the farmers through multiple channels; multi-stakeholder partnerships between Innovators, Industry, Government and Academia. Both industry and government are the largest stakeholders in the Agricultural sector and continuously deploying technology-based solutions on the farm. These solutions are either developed inhouse, at an Agri University, or sourced through a partnership with an innovative venture.

The concluding session will include testimonials from key players in the sector to help develop and understand how the partnerships across the sector are resulting in percolating the benefit of transformative technologies to the most important stakeholder; the Indian farmer.
